Meeting To Discuss The Project And Assign Duties
Before beginning the project, hold a meeting to discuss the building phases that are required to erect the power plant and work duties that each person will be responsible for. Provide visual aids, including a blueprint or model of the finished project so that your employees will have a clear idea of what the building will look like and the amount of land that it will encompass after it is built.
By discussing details associated with the project and explaining what each person's work responsibilities are, confusion will be kept to a minimum and people will be able to complete their work details without getting in the way of another person and will avoid installing building materials or equipment in a manner that was not planned.
Safety Gear And First Aid Kit
Inspect safety gear and purchase new items if any of the current ones are damaged. Overcoats that are brightly colored and made out of fireproof material will protect an individual's skin if they are exposed to high temperatures or live electrical wires. Safety pants that are made out of flame retardant material should be worn at all times while on the job site. Gloves and masks are some additional items that need to be inspected and replaced prior to beginning the construction project.
Place safety gear inside of storage bags that are clearly marked with each person's name and keep the items inside of work vehicles or the building that you operate out of so that employees can put on their garments as soon as they show up for work. Keep a first aid kit on hand that includes antiseptic ointment, bandages, scissors, and medical tape so that anyone who receives a minor injury on the job can treat their wounds immediately.
Emergency Protocol
If a situation arises in which the new building must be exited immediately due to faulty wiring, a fire, or unstable materials, have a plan set in motion so that workers can exit the premises in an orderly fashion. Before beginning the project, designate a meeting place for everyone to go to in case they need to leave the power plant in a hurry.
Keep emergency phone numbers on hand and place them inside of your vehicle's glove compartment so that they can be utilized if needed. Also, keep a cell phone in a specific area so that anyone who encounters an emergency and doesn't have a phone with them can use it to make a call.
